Synopsis

To the Beautiful You is a K-Drama based on a J-Drama based on a Japanese manga (called Hana Kimi). It's your basic high scool crossdreassing heroine story (there are tons of these in Asian media and in shakespeare, oddly enough) with a girl who dresses like a boy to attend an all-boys high scholl and compete in athletic events. She falls in love with a boy who eventually figures out that she's a girl, and wacky hijinks ensue.

Our show begins with high jumper Taejoon (played by Minho of the K-pop band SHINee) competing in some kind of teen Olympic event, and his hard work lands him the gold medal.
In America, a girl named Jaehee (Sulli of the K-pop band f(x)) watches Taejoon jump. His performance leads her to make the drastic decision to cut off her hair. Our little Jaehee is so in love with Taejoon that she is going to impersonate a boy so she can enroll in his all-male school and be near him.

At her destination, a place called Genie (!) Athletic High School (??!!!?), a soccer player named Eungyul is shown to be so popular that he tweets pictures of himself after practices, and his female followers coo over every shot. As Jaehee walks up to the front gates of her new school, a mob of young ladies blocks the gate, hoping for a glimpse of superstar athlete Taejoon as his chauffeur drives him and his manager to school. A gym teacher literally uses a giant stick to peel the girls away from the bus.

Jaehee herself meets her high-jumping dreamboat when her suitcase falls open and Taejoon happens to retrieve her underwear. Jaehee panics that she'll be discovered, but it's clear that Taejoon doesn't care what weird stuff the newly transferred "boy" has packed away in his suitcase. Oh dear, is Taejoon going to be one of those painfully incurious heroes who takes forever to understand anything?

Eungyul plays Mr. Exposition and explains to Jaehee that there are three dorms on campus, and each dorm is in a fierce competition against the others. I love this! Seems like it could be fodder for a lot of funny, enjoyable conflicts. Next, Eungyul leads Jaehee to her ridiculously spacious dorm room seriously, this place is as big as my first three dorm rooms combined with my first two apartments.Genie High really takes care of their freshmen!

And it's revealed that Jaehee's roommate in this decadent palace will be none other than Taejoon! Our Hijinks Potential just went through the roof. But Taejoon's subplot of the story is actually rather serious right now. He doesn't want to high jump ever again, but he's in danger of losing all his endorsement deals soon, and his bossy father wants to make him get back in the game.

About Vampire

Sejarah Vampire

Vampir adalah tokoh dalam mitologi dan legenda yang hidup dengan memakan intisari kehidupan, biasanya dalam bentuk darah dari makhluk lain. Istilah vampir baru populer pada awal abad ke-18 setelah masuknya legenda vampir ke Eropa Barat dari daerah Balkan dan Eropa Timur.
Vampir dalam legenda Balkan dan Eropa Timur memilliki penampilan yang beragam, mulai dari makhluk mirip manusia sampai mayat hidup. Sedangkan di Eropa Barat, vampir digambarkan sebagai makhluk yang berpenampilan rapi dan mewah. 
Vampir umumnya keluar dari makamnya pada malam hari untuk menggigit orang-orang denga taringnya yang panjang dan menghidap darah mereka. Biasanya korban yang digigit menjadi vampir juga.
Menurut mitos, vampir tidak kelihatan di cermin, karena vampir tidak memiliki jiwa. Dalam cerita fiksi modern, vampir bisa menjelma/berubah menjadi kalelawar, srigala, bahkan gumpalan gas dan vampir tidak bisa terkena matahari.

Perubahan Vampire

Proses menjadi vampire berbeda-beda dalam kepercayaan.
Di Slavia dan Cina, mayat yang dilangkahi oleh kucing atau anjing akan menjadi mayat hidup.
Dalam kepercayaan Rusia, vampir adalah penyihir atau manusia yang semasa hidupnya menentang Gereja.
Ritual budaya kadang dilakukan untuk mencegah orang yang baru saja meninggal berubah menjadi mayat hidup, misalnya mengubur mayat menjadi terbalik atau menaruh benda-benda duniawi seperti arit atau sabit di dekat makam agar setan yang mendatangi mayat merasa senang sehingga tidak akan bangkit dari peti.

Perlindungan terhadap vampir

Benda-benda yang digunakan untuk melawan vampir adalah Bawang Putih atau air suci dalam cerita vampir. Setiap daerah memiliki benda pengusir vampir tersendiri.
Di Eropa, biji sesawi yang di taburkan di atap rumah dipercaya dapat menjauhkan vampir. Benda suci lainnya adalah Solib, rosario, dan air suci. Vampir dikatakan tidak bisa masuk ke tempat suci seperti gereja atau kuil. Vampir juga tidak bisa melewati air. Meskipun tidak dianggap sebagai benda keramat, cermin digunakan untuk mengusir vampir dengan cara ditempatkan di depan pintu. Dalam kepercayaan tertentu vampir tidak mempunyai bayangan. Ciri vampir ini digunakan oleh Bram Stoker dalam Dracula dan menjadi populer di antara para penulis dan pembuat film.

Membunuh Vampir

Cara yang digunakan untuk membunuh vampir sagat bervariasi dan sebagian besar berasal dari budaya Slavia Selatan. Di Rusia dan negara-negara Baltik digunakan tanaman Ash. Di Serbia digunakan tanaman Hawthorn. Vampir yang menjadi sasaran ditusuk di bagian jantungnya, meskipun di Rusia dan Jerman Utara yang diserang adalah mulutnya. Sedangkan dibagian Timur Laut Serbia yang menjadi sasaran adalah perutnya.
Menusuk dada vampir adalah salah satu cara untuk "mengempiskan" vampir. Cara ini berupa menguburkan benda tajam seperti arit sehingga vampir akan tertusuk benda tersebut ketika vampir tersebut membengkak.
Pemenggalan sering dilakukan di Jerman dan daerah Slavia Barat denga kepala sang vampir dikubur terpisah dari tubuhnya. Cara ini dilakukan untuk mempercepat perginya roh dari tubuh. Kepala, tubuh dan pakaian vampir juga di paku ke tanah agar vampir tersebut tidak bisa bangkit lagi.
